Betterliving and Craft-Bilt FAQs
What does Craft-Bilt make?
Craft-Bilt manufactures components used to fabricate outdoor living products to make your bakyard more comfortable and functional.
Product options include sunrooms, screen rooms, patio covers, retractable awnings and shades, aluminum railing, and aluminum decking.
Are Craft-Bilt products custom or pre-made kits?
No. Nothing arrives as a pre-made kit. Every Craft-Bilt room is measured to your home and fabricated to those exact dimensions in their Souderton, PA factory. Your sunroom, screen room, or awning is built for your specific needs.
Are Betterliving products low maintenance?
Yes. Craft-Bilt’s aluminum-based products are designed to reduce the upkeep that often comes with wood or other exterior materials. Homeowners still need to clean and care for them, but they avoid many bigger headaches like painting, staining, rotting, or warping.
Is this a DIY product?
Your Betterliving project will be handled by factory-trained design consultants from beginning to end. We will not drop a kit in your driveway and wish you luck. We measure, design, install, and stand behind the project.
Is it better to choose a company that manufactures and installs its own sunrooms?
Manufacturing the product and installing the product are two different things, and both need to be done well.
We use Craft-Bilt because they specialize in manufacturing engineered sunroom systems, patio covers, screen rooms, and outdoor living products. Their products are designed as complete systems, with components that are made to work together.
Our role is to help you choose the right solution for your home, measure the space properly, manage the project, and install the product with care. That gives you the benefit of a proven manufacturer behind the product and a local team responsible for the design, installation, and customer experience.
Instead of one company trying to be everything, you get the right experts in the right places: a trusted manufacturer making the product and a local home improvement company making sure it fits your home.
Are you a Certified Betterliving / Craft-Bilt Dealer?
We are a Craft-Bilt authorized dealer, but “dealer” does not mean hands-off or cookie-cutter. It means we offer and install a professional product line from a manufacturer that specializes in sunrooms and outdoor living systems.
That matters because a sunroom is not just a pile of windows, posts, panels, and screws. It needs to be designed as a system. Craft-Bilt manufactures components, provides product warranties, and designs materials that perform as intended.
We bring the local Columbus, Ohio expertise. You get the best of both worlds: manufacturer-backed products and a local team that stands behind the project.
Is a stick-built room better than a Craft-Bilt room?
Not necessarily. A traditional stick-built room is built piece by piece using wood framing, similar to a home addition. That can make sense for some full home additions, but it is not always the best choice for a sunroom or porch enclosure.
A Craft-Bilt sunroom is an engineered system. That means the roof, walls, windows, doors, screens, framing, and connection points are designed to work together. Instead of building a room from separate materials that all have to be adapted on site, the system is made specifically for sunroom use.
Craft-Bilt rooms also use durable aluminum framing, which does not rot, warp, or attract moisture the way wood can. The materials are made for outdoor exposure, seasonal temperature changes, and long-term use.
Another major advantage is warranty protection. With a stick-built room, the wood, windows, roof, and other pieces may all come from different manufacturers, each with different warranty terms. With a Craft-Bilt room, the system is designed as a complete product, with warranty coverage built around the way the room is meant to perform.
So while “stick-built” may sound stronger because it sounds like traditional construction, that does not always make it better. For a sunroom, a properly installed Craft-Bilt system gives you durable materials, a cleaner design, strong warranty protection, and components that are made to work together.
Does Craft-Bilt manufacture more than just Betterliving products?
No. Betterliving is Craft-Bilt's high-quality line of sunrooms, shades, and awnings. Craft-Bilt makes other residential and commercial products as well, including its Aristicrat Awning and Shade line.
